Goals and Objectives

 

       To   support teachers’  understanding of the new emphases of the new science frameworks: content and organizational structure

 

       To   support teachers’ understanding of the new assessment process.

 

       To help teachers recognize Assessment  of student understanding as a strategy for teaching;

 

       To   support teachers’ understanding of Science Performance Tasks as an assessment of student understanding of science content and science process skills / nature of science.

 

       Recognize use of Performance Tasks as a teaching strategy to simultaneously promote understanding of specific ideas in science (content) and the nature of science (science process skills);

 

       Help teachers design open-inquiry activities around the idea and questions that students raise;

 

       To promote collaboration among teachers within and across districts;

 

       Develop teachers’ confidence and competence to teach science through inquiry
